products we use or our favourite charities, please click on the links below
Organisations
At ABCO, we believe that being members of these organisations keeps us up to date
with industry trends and helps you to know that we are serious about our
business.
Hampshire County Council – Buy with Confidence
http://www.buywithconfidence.info/
Hampshire Trading Standards Service has approved firms on this list under the
Hampshire Regulatory Service’s Business Standards Partnership scheme.
ABCO and other members agree to provide reliable and quality service.
Hampshire County Council Trading Standards Service cannot guarantee the
financial standing of the members, nor that their work will never give rise
to complaint. But should this be the case, any difficulties will be dealt
with fairly.
FENSA - Less Hassle for You
www.fensa.org.uk
Since April 2002, anyone who installs replacement windows and doors must
comply with strict thermal performance standards.
FENSA is the Fenestration Self Assessment Scheme. If you use a FENSA
registered installer, like ABCO, they can provide you with the necessary
certificate.
Otherwise you will need to make an application to your local authority for
approval under the Building Regulations and pay the relevant charges.
GGF - Added Reassurance
www.ggf.org.uk
Although most installers of doors and windows are members of FENSA, much
fewer belong to the Glass & Glazing Federation (GGF), who set up the
FENSA scheme.
In order to obtain membership of the GGF, ABCO has been vetted. This includes
a visit to our premises, checking 3 years' of accounts and taking up
references. To remain in GGF, our work has to conform to a Code of Good
Practice and to specific Technical Standards.
The other main benefit for customers is that any deposit you place with ABCO
is safeguarded by the GGF indemnity scheme.
FSB – Supporting the Small Busines
www.fsb.org.uk
The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) is the largest campaigning pressure
group promoting and protecting the interests of the self-employed and owners
of small firms.
They are non-profit making and
non-party political and help businesses like ABCO to keep up to date with the
key issues facing the small business sector.
Suppliers
We have chosen the following suppliers on the basis that they provide us with
the best materials to meet your needs.
Marshall Tufflex – High quality and the best
range of colours we can find
www.marshall-tufflex.com
All of our PVC-u framework is sourced from Marshall Tufflex. We believe that
it is the closest match to timber and looks good on modern and traditional
properties.
They supply the widest range of coloured foils and wood grains. This gives
you a choice of 18 colours including blue, red, green and even 3 shades of
grey. We can also offer 19 wood grain effects from limed oak and light pine,
right through to oak and ebony.
Marshall Tufflex is the biggest UK supplier; they began life in 1956 and like
ABCO, remain a family business.
Renolit – Long
lasting durability
www.renolit.com
The foils used by Marshall Tufflex to make the coloured frames are supplied
by Renolit. As well as the huge range of colours, we have been using their
coloured foil for 15 years and have not had any problems with fading in the
sun.
Pilkington Glass – A British company with global leadership in
technology
www.pilkington.com
Founded in 1926, Pilkington is recognised as the world’s technological leader
in glass; they supply almost all of our glazing requirements.
We use both clear and obscure glass from Pilkington, with different unit
thicknesses available for additional heat retention or sound insulation.
Toughened safety glass will be used where industry guidelines indicate.
Quantal – A safe
conservatory roof to suit your needs
www.quantal.co.uk
Quantal’s conservatory roof system provides a low maintenance and energy
efficient solution in a variety of traditional and contemporary styles. There
are also a number of ventilation options to suit both the direction your
conservatory faces and your budget.
These systems are tested to ensure that they meet appropriate standards in
all weather conditions, including high winds and snow.
Devi – Help you to enjoy your conservatory all year
round
www.devi.com
This German company provides the underfloor heating systems we install in
conservatories. There is a low power version to just take the chill off or a
more expensive, heavier duty version to heat the conservatory.
Unlike some other types of underfloor heating, we can lay ours in screed
which means that they are suitable for any type of flooring, even carpet.
Beaufort – Low
maintenance windows with slimline frames
www.beaufortsecure.co.uk
Beaufort Secure Design Limited is a privately owned supplier of aluminium
systems, based in South Wales.
They supply aluminium windows and doors to ABCO. These slimline frames are
strong, require little maintenance and provide extra security. Aluminium is
also more environmentally friendly than some other materials, being
constantly recyclable.
SGO – Express your
individuality
www.sgouk.com
SGO are a leading supplier of decorative glass products. These include acid
etched, leaded Georgian, bevelled glass and even stained glass. All designs
can be tailored to fit your window shape and colour preference. SGO can even
create designs based on individual artwork to reflect your interests or
business.
Sarna – Long lasting flat roofs
www.sarnafil.com
It is no secret that flat roofs have had a poor reputation. We only want to
supply products that last, which is why we have chosen Sarna. ABCO have been
installing Sarna roofs for many years now and are very happy with their
quality.
Sarna’s roofing membranes are suitable for application in both new and
refurbishment roofing. The choice of which membrane and roofing system to use
will depend on budget, design, aesthetics and the finished function of the
roof. ABCO will be happy to advise.
Wessex Garage Doors –
Lots of choice and made to measure
www.wessexgaragedoors.co.uk
Wessex are the largest independent suppliers of garage doors in the south of
England. Materials include GRP, Timber, Steel and ABS.
As well as being fairly local, we like the fact that Wessex can supply a
large range of made to measure door sizes to suit a variety of styles and
budgets.
Charities
We support a number of different charities and hope that some of these might
interest you too.
Sight Savers
International - Helping the poorly sighted to a better future
www.sightsavers.org
Helping people to make the most of the view from new windows or a
conservatory makes us very aware of eyesight.
What we particularly like about Sight Savers is that they not only provide
treatment that can help to restore sight, but also assist with the
rehabilitation of those who are irreversibly blind – helping them to make a
better future for themselves.
Wessex Heartbeat – Health in
our community
www.heartbeat.co.uk
This charity works hard to provide funding for the Wessex cardiac unit based
in the nearby Southampton General Hospital.
Contributions to date have helped to make the Unit one of the leading Cardiac
Units in Europe. Over 20,000 patients are treated here every year, including
1,000 children.
ILPH – Giving horses a better life
www.ilph.org
Based in the New Forest, we at ABCO are fortunate in being able to enjoy the
sight of ponies wandering free.
Sadly, not all horses and ponies have such a pleasant life and the
International League for the Protection of Horses is actively involved in
stopping cruelty and in providing rehabilitation for horses. They also run
educational courses in saddlery, farriery, veterinary care and nutrition to
combat the major causes of equine suffering and help the owners to help
themselves.
